Certified copy fee
This works out what the sub registrar charges for a certified copy of a registered document, and separates it from the two things people confuse it with: an Index-2 copy and an encumbrance certificate. They are three different documents at three different prices.
Updated 11 August 2026. Amounts from the registration department's own citizen charter, captured 4 August 2026. That document carries no date.
The department's own worked example is a twenty page document at 25.4 x 15.2 cm, which is twenty multiplied by fifteen, a copy fee of three hundred rupees. Leave the defaults as they are to reproduce it.
Three different documents, three different fees
People use "certified copy" loosely, and the registration department does not. A certified copy of a full registered document is priced per page by page size. A certified copy of Index-2, the summary entry, is a flat charge. An encumbrance certificate, which lists what is registered against a property, is a third thing again.
All of these amounts come from the registration department's citizen charter, which is published undated. They are marked reported for that reason. Online applications through the iORA portal have their fees computed by the portal itself, and those amounts are not printed in the charter, so this page does not state them.
The three fees side by side
| What you are asking for | Fee | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Certified copy of a registered document | Rs 3 court fee ticket, plus Rs 10 to Rs 20 per page by page size, plus a Rs 300 court fee ticket per copy | REPORTED |
| Certified copy of Index-2, offline | Rs 3 court fee ticket, plus Rs 20, plus a Rs 300 court fee ticket | REPORTED |
| Certified copy of Index-2, online through iORA | UNKNOWN | The portal computes it and the charter does not print the amounts |
| Encumbrance certificate | Rs 100 | REPORTED |
Page size bands for a full document
| Page size | Per page |

| 25.4 x 15.2 cm | Rs 15 |
